    The New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) Varsity Girls Basketball team participated in their end-of-the-season 2018 Awards Night on Sunday, April 29. The award night was held in the NR-S cafeteria and included a banquet, speeches and awards. In Head Coach Mandy Fandrich's speech, she thanked Assistant Coach Craig Demester as well as parents for their support. Fandrich then congratulated the girls for all their hard work. The Sheyenne New Rockford (SNR) Black Sox began the 2018 high school baseball season Monday, April 23 at Tolna.   The Black Sox are a young team, but most of the players have years of playing experience. SNR should be very competitive in Region 3. Carrington and Midkota-Dakota Prairie-Lakota will likely be the teams to beat in Region 3, and both are very well coached.     The New Rockford- Sheyenne (NR-S) track team was at Hazen High School on Saturday, April 21 for the Sakakawea Country Classic Track and Field Meet. The girls placed sixth and the boys placed 15th. Girls Placers Brianna Price placed second in the 400 dash with a time of 1:04.77 and fourth in the 200 dash; Lauren Roscoe placed third, her time was 1:06.77.     The New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) track team traveled to the Lisbon Invitational Meet on Tuesday, April 24. It was a good-sized meet. There were 19 teams participating in in this meet, including Class A teams from West Fargo-Sheyenne, Valley City, Wahpeton, Jamestown and West Fargo.     New Rockford-Sheyenne boys and girls track teams began their 2018 season at the State Indoor Championship in Fargo on Saturday, March 24. Overall, bothteams are pretty young, but the Rockets look to have a good year ahead, as they have some good talent.     The big difference in this game was at the free throw line as St. John defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 80-71 in non-district boys basketball action played at St. John on Saturday, February 3.
