    The game was quite close most of the way as Midkota defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 53-45 in non-district Girls Basketball action played at Glenfield on Monday, January 29. Overall, it was a hard fought game, and at times quite physical.   Midkota is a pretty young team and could be quite good the next few years. The Mustangs led virtually all the way and at all quarter stops, 16-11, 26-21, 42-33. Joslyn Hoyt paced Midkota with a game high 24 points, Jakenda Short added 15 points.     New Rockford hosted Langdon-Edmore Munich for a doubleheader of boys and girls basketball action on Saturday, January 27. In the girls game, New Rockford -Sheyenne had a bad first quarter and just never recovered although they never quit. Langdon- Area- Edmore- Munich defeated the locals by a final score of 68-44 before a pretty good crowd. Before the game, Lauren Roscoe, the Rockets only senior, was presented with a game ball signed by the team. The Cardinals are a very good team and well coached.     Overall, this was a very physical game. The big difference in this game was the third quarter as New Rockford-Sheyenne defeated North Star by a final score of 65-57 in non-district Boys Basketball action played here on Thursday, January 18. North Star is a pretty young team similar to the Rockets.     The first three quarters were quite close, but Benson County pulled away in the fourth and defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 58-43 in District 7 Girls Basketball action played at Maddock on Friday, January 19. The Rockets had some costly turnovers and got into some foul trouble. Benson County led all the way and at all quarter stops 13-9, 28-23, 38-29 and defeated the locals by a final of 58-43.     New Rockford-Sheyenne played a pretty good first half in the non -district girls basketball action played at Devils Lake on Saturday, January 13. During the second half Midway-Minto pulled ahead and the Monarchs defeated the locals by a final score of 64-37. The Rockets had some trouble handling defensive pressure. Midway-Minto made 23 field goals, 18 of 32 free throws, committed 6 fouls and had 13 turnovers.     Fans got their money's worth and more last week when the Rockets hosted two district rivals in thriller contests decided by just a few points.  Monday brought the Four Winds-Minnewaukan Indians to town to take on the Rocket boys in their season opener.
