Dear Editor, As the election nears, hopefully, we all get to the ballot box for the candidates, but also for the measures before us. I’d like to address Measure 4. First, I think we can all agree we need property tax relief – and it’s overdue. I’m not sure what that looks like exactly in the future, but it needs to happen. Measure 4, though, isn’t the right approach. If the measure passes, it would become part of our State Constitution, making it difficult at best to correct or even refine. This really worries me, as there is no clear-cut...
Please join me in voting for Senator Jerry Klein, Representative Jon Nelson and Representative Robin Weisz on June 11. The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, North Dakota Farmers Union and North Dakota Farm Bureau oppose this measure. Agriculture stands together to support our right as citizens to cast our vote for whomever we w...
Joe Kennedy, a former assistant coach at Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Wash., lost his coaching job after refusing to stop kneeling in prayer with players and spectators on the field immediately after football games. He took his arguments to the Supreme Court on April 25, 2022, saying the school district violated his First Amendment rights by refusing to let him continue praying at the 50-yard line after games. As a society, what have we come to? This man knelt midfield by himself, never asked anyone to join him, but eventually players...
