    Hunter Genre has had quite the year. This eighth grader at New Rockford-Sheyenne has seen some highs and lows. His family nearly lost everything in their home, including his bow and arrows, due to a fire in March. With the help of community members, Genre was able to obtain a new bow and finish out the 2021 archery season with a bang. Belquist is only a freshman in high school and is an outstanding athlete in all sports, from volleyball to basketball to track, and her hard work and determination really shows.     The New Rockford club volleyball teams competed in the last pool play tournament of the season on Sunday, May 9, to determine where they would sit in the tournament play matches on Sunday, May 16. The 16s team competed against Minot Verity, Blue Jay White and Lake Region White at the Larson Center in Jamestown.     The New Rockford-Sheyenne Track team traveled to Oakes on Monday, May 3 to compete in the Oakes Open. The 4x800 Relay team for New Rockford-Sheyenne consists of Kelsie Belquist, Ava Peterson, Katie Allmaras and Chloe Heinz. They received first place in the 4x800 Relay with a time of 11:10.31.     The New Rockford-Sheyenne fourth through sixth grade volleyball team ended their season on April 27 in a match up against Maddock. The youth volleyball season began back on March 7th. The girls practiced twice a week, similar to club volleyball practices. The Rockets played a total of eight games throughout the season. The team consisted of 19 girls in grades 4-6.     The New Rockford club volleyball team competed in the New Rockford club volleyball tournament this past weekend. A total of seven teams competed in the 16s division and six teams competed in the 14s division. Each game was set to last for 30 minutes. The tournament was set up on a point system.
