Hunter Genre has had quite the year. This eighth grader at New Rockford-Sheyenne has seen some highs and lows. His family nearly lost everything in their home, including his bow and arrows, due to a fire in March. Belquist is only a freshman in high school and is an outstanding athlete in all sports, from volleyball to basketball to track, and her hard work and determination really shows. The New Rockford club volleyball teams competed in the last pool play tournament of the season on Sunday, May 9, to determine where they would sit in the tournament play matches on Sunday, May 16. The 16s team competed against Minot Verity, Blue Jay White and Lake Region White at the Larson Center in Jamestown. The New Rockford-Sheyenne Track team traveled to Oakes on Monday, May 3 to compete in the Oakes Open. The 4x800 Relay team for New Rockford-Sheyenne consists of Kelsie Belquist, Ava Peterson, Katie Allmaras and Chloe Heinz. They received first place in the 4x800 Relay with a time of 11:10.31. The New Rockford-Sheyenne fourth through sixth grade volleyball team ended their season on April 27 in a match up against Maddock. The youth volleyball season began back on March 7th. The 83rd annual North Dakota Winter Show was held March 10 - 14 in Valley City, N.D. The PRCA and NDRA rodeos are one of the main events at the North Dakota Winter Show. The NDRA rodeo, held on Sunday, March 14, was the first NDRA rodeo of the year. There are close to 20 rodeos scheduled for 2021.
