This week I completed the testimony in the Senate on the last few bills I sponsored. I introduced SB 2266 which would provide that K-12 schools have a policy on the seclusion and restraint of students. This bill is similar to one from last session. Families came from across the state to provide testimony in favor of this bill. Schools not only need a policy, they need funds to train teachers and staff in techniques in deescalating students, planning positive interventions and notifying parents. Betty Rushfeldt was a guest at Sharon Rance’s home in Devils Lake last weekend. Sunday through Tuesday visitor and guest at the Candy Jensen home was son, Derik Holte from Minneapolis. Last week the North Dakota House of Representatives passed House Bill 1400, legislation that will regulate consumer labeling of alternative meat products. The bill requires that alternative products be labeled plainly and accurately for consumers as to the production practice used in their manufacture. Sharon Kay Fingerson, 73 of Sheyenne, passed away on Feb. 7, 2019. A memorial and burial will be held in the spring in Washington State.
