    The North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s 2018 bighorn sheep survey, completed by recounting lambs in March, revealed a minimum of 283 bighorn sheep in western North Dakota, up 7 percent from 2017 and equal to the five-year average. Altogether, biologists counted 84 rams, 161 ewes and 38 lambs. Not included are approximately 20 bighorns in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.     The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) recommends people take precautions against ticks and the diseases they carry. “The highest risk of tickborne disease transmission occurs between late spring and early fall,” said Laura Cronquist, an epidemiologist with the NDDoH. “The key to preventing tickborne diseases, such as Lyme disease, anaplasmosis and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, is to avoid tick bites and find and remove ticks promptly.” The NDDoH offers the following tips to help reduce the risk of tick bites:  • Use Environment...

    The season has ended for the Wonder Lanes Junior/Majors bowling league. This year we had 12 bowlers in this league which consists of students 12 years of age thru high school, both boys and girls. The annual awards banquet was held on Sunday, April 7 at Wonder Lanes.   • New Rockford's blood drive brings in 41 volunteers

    New Rockford hosted a blood drive with Vitalant on March 26 at First Lutheran Church, which helped collect a total of 49 units of blood for patients in need. A total of 41 individuals volunteered to donate blood and 39 individuals were able to donate on March 26. A total of seven donors donated Power Red Cells (2RBC), a process which collects two units of red blood cells while returning platelets, plasma and a saline solution back to the donor.
