    The New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) Varsity Girls Basketball team participated in their end-of-the-season 2018 Awards Night on Sunday, April 29. The award night was held in the NR-S cafeteria and included a banquet, speeches and awards. In Head Coach Mandy Fandrich's speech, she thanked Assistant Coach Craig Demester as well as parents for their support. Fandrich then congratulated the girls for all their hard work.     The New Rockford Men's & Women's Bowling Association had their awards banquet at the New Rockford Eagles on the evening of Friday April 27, with 29 bowlers and sponsors in attendance. League secretary Gail Roberts presented the women's Lucky League award. The winners of the league were the Nicolai Chiropractic team, with bowlers Laurie Johnston, Traci Harrington and Gail Roberts.     The poppy as a memorial flower for the American dead is a tradition that began in the years following World War I.
