    On Wednesday, June 15, New Rockford Post 30 traveled to Cando Post 79, and came away with a 15-6 win. The Sox put their hitting shoes on for this game, touching up the Bearcats' starter, Tommy Nikolaisen for 10 hits and eight runs. They added three more hits and seven more runs off of two relievers.     New Rockford Post #30 travelled to regional opponent Jamestown on Friday, June 11, and split two five-inning games, winning the first game that counted toward the regional standings 4-2, and losing the second by the ten-run rule in four innings 10-0.     The NR Babe Ruth team played two games against regional opponent Cando on June 15, and lost both games. In the first game, the Bearcats jumped on the Sox early, scoring five runs in the first inning off of Sox starter, Connor Knatterud, on four hits and three walks. They added additional runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings. The Sox were only able to muster up three runs in the top of the sixth.     On Thursday, June 10, the New Rockford Babe Ruth team traveled to Devils Lake and played two games, winning the first in a four-inning blow out 16-3, and narrowly losing the second 6-5 in five innings. New Rockford scored runs in all four innings of the first game. Every hitter scored a run. Brody Weisenburger led the Sox with three hits, three runs and two RBIs.     According to data collected by the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services and North Dakota Forest Service, nearly 1,400 fires have scorched more than 100,000 acres across the state since January 2021.     The current tree planting project in New Rockford has been completed! Through the Family Forestry Grant, 30 trees have been planted on various properties throughout the community. All have been planted, mulched with wood chips, and are being watered by the property owners who have agreed to permanently “adopt” these trees.     The 2021 Hurdsfield All-School Reunion has been postponed again, due to COVID-19 still being a problem in some states. The event has been rescheduled for July 8-10, 2022.
