  • Eyes that see the good in things: July 29, 2019

    Allison Lindgren|Jul 29, 2019

It was the third message I had received on the topic of mercy that day. Yes, it took three times before I finally, really paid attention. It works that way for me sometimes. Although I may have taken something of value from the first message and the second message, I stopped and really took notice at the third one. By the time the third message comes, it leaves me wondering if the message is for me. Or it could be that it just takes a sledgehammer to get my attention. In any case, that’s what h...

  • Letter to the Editor: July 29, 2019

Later, North Dakota legislators voted to rescind these resolutions. In 2015 North Dakota became one of 28 states again calling for a convention (34 are needed). However, in 2018-19 no others passed one, and eight have legislation pending to again rescind. Would amendments achieve balanced budgets? All public servants pledge to obey the Constitution. If they would,...

  • Opinion: Our childish politicians need kindergarten lessons

    Tom Purcell|Jul 29, 2019

We could use a hearty dose of Robert Fulghum wisdom about now. Our political discourse is at a fever pitch. Our allegedly esteemed elected leaders are carrying on like unruly children - shouting and pouting and becoming increasingly strident with their political opponents. If they wish to carry on like children, they need to learn some kindergarten wisdom. "All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be, I learned in kindergarten," wrote Fulghum in his famous 1988...

USMCA will catalyze growth across the economy, especially in sectors that rely on strong intellectual property protections. • Sermonette: July 29, 2019

    Pastor Joe Greiner|Jul 29, 2019

I saw a bear once. It was the summer I worked at Boy Scout camp and I was ambling half-awake down the trail to breakfast and there, running down and then across my trail was a black bear. I was so startled, I didn’t react; I just stood there stupidly processing what I had just seen. After being surprised by a bear, that was one morning that I was FULLY awake before breakfast. I think I was shaking as I continued down the path. I remembered my boy scout training that told me that black bears aren’t very dangerous unless it is a mama bear wit...
