    Fall Fish Survey Completed North Dakota Game and Fish Department fisheries biologists have completed fall reproduction surveys and most waters fared as good as or better than expected. Scott Gangl, Department fisheries management section leader, said Lake Sakakawea had the eighth highest catch of young-of-the-year walleye on record. “There was good reproduction of most game species in the big lake, as we saw healthy numbers of pike, perch, smallmouth bass, white bass, crappies and walleye,” Gangl said. “And it’s the second year in a row of...

    The Central North Dakota Steam Threshers' Association got a little help covering the cost of constructing a new building to house its steam engines and other equipment. The organization received $7,000 from insurance after the Stavik building was leveled by the July 8 storm, but the cost to rebuild the structure is estimated at $40,000.     There was beautiful music throughout the state on Saturday, Oct. 13. The North Dakota American Choral Directors Association hosted its annual Surround the State in Song, a fifth and sixth-grade honor choir.     The New Rockford-Sheyenne Student Council is excited to begin its second annual “Trick or Treat for Charity” event. Residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable food items in the donation box near the front entrance of the school from Monday, Oct. 22 -31. Or, leave items on your front porch or by your front door on Halloween for the students to collect that evening. Last year 946 items were collected for the local Hunger Free Food Pantry, and this year their goal is to exceed 1,000 items....
