The Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Eddy County Soil Conservation District officially moved into their new office on 7th Street South in New Rockford the first week in December. The 4000 sq. ft. office is about two thirds the size of the last one located on U.S. Highway 281. The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets boys basketball team competed in the CNDC Tournament at Rugby December 13-15. The Rockets finished the touranment in third place, beating Rolla 74 to 45 in the quarterfinals. In May 1972, Kathleen Thueson began her 46-year career as the Executive Secretary for the NDSU Extension Service Eddy County Office. She worked alongside Aloph Gross, Eddy County's Agriculture/Natural Resource Agent, and Carol Sellie, the Family/Consumer Wellness Agent. She has been the mainstay in the office through 10 county agents, a move and various changes in technology. Shoppers received one entry for any purchase of $10 or more at one of the 16 participating merchants. The Eddy County Sheriff's Office hosted its annual Shop with the Sheriff event on Thursday, Dec. 13. Over 30 youth were accompanied by nearly a dozen law enforcement officers from Eddy and Foster counties.
