State Hospital Opens by Merry Helm May 1, 2019 — On this day in 1885, the North Dakota Hospital For The Insane at Jamestown was opened. Its corporate seal featured the three figures of Faith, Hope and Charity, with the caption: "But The Greatest Of These Is Charity." This hospital was a model institution for the times. Power Outage by Jayme L. Job April 8, 2019 — A massive power outage resulting from vandalism was reported on this day in 1948. Five North Dakota cities, including Mandan, Glen Ullin, New Salem, Judson and Almont, were left without power for about 45 minutes on the evening of April 6.
