The game was quite close and hard fought the whole way. New Rockford-Sheyenne defeated Rolla by a final score of 48-42 in non -district girls basketball action played here on Friday, January 5.
Ashley Schuster is still out with an ankle injury, however Kayahna Hopfauf came back to play after a leg injury and Hannah Haley returned after being gone on
a family vacation.
The locals led 11-6 after one stanza, 25-13 at halftime, 37-30 after three and came with a 48-42 victory. At times the game was very physical. Both of these teams are quite young, so the near future could very good for both.
Rolla made 16 field goals, 4 of 8 free throws, committed 12 fouls and had 22 turnovers. The Rockets made 21 field goals, 6 of 12 free throws, committed 12 fouls and had 23 turnovers.
Kyleigh Wilkes paced the
visitors with 15 points. Kylee Baumgarn had 11 and Skylar Arnold added 10. Haley led all scorers with 18 points, Lauren Roscoe added 15 for the locals.
The Rockets improve to 6-4 overall. Next action for the Rockets is Tuesday, January 16 when Lakota comes to town. First game begins at 4:30 pm.
