Rockets defeat rival Bearcats by 8

Overall, this was a very physical game. The big difference in this game was the third quarter as New Rockford-Sheyenne defeated North Star by a final score of 65-57 in non-district Boys Basketball action played here on Thursday, January 18. North Star is a pretty young team similar to the Rockets. New Rockford-Sheyenne led most of the way and at all quarter stops 14-12, 30-22, 56-43, and again the Rockets came through with a hard fought 65-57 win.

The locals made 5 big free throws in the fourth quarter to help seal the win. Bo Belquist made 2, Hunter Thompson made 1, and Tucker Longnecker made1. The Bearcats had excellent scoring balance. Tayden Thomas led the way for the Bearcats with 15 points. Keaton Kvilvang had 13, Ian Knutson 11, and Hunter Borstad 10.  

The Rockets also had good scoring balance. Teddy Allmaras led all scorers with 19 points. Bo Belquist had 12 and Tucker Longnecker had 11.

North Star made 22 field goals, 9 of 11 free throws, committed 17 fouls and had 19 turnovers.

New Rockford-Sheyenne made 22 field goals, 13 of 19 free throws, committed 11 fouls and had 12 turnovers. New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 5-6 overall.
