Rockets fall to Four Winds Lady Indians

New Rockford-Sheyenne played a pretty good first quarter, but Four Winds-Minnewaukan took control of the game from there, as they defeated the locals by a final score of 72-37 in District 7 Girls Basketball action played at Minnewaukan on Monday, January 22.

The Lady Indians are a very good team and well coached and will be at or near the top of District 7 and Region 4. New Rockford-Sheyenne had some trouble handling defensive pressure.

Four Winds-Minnewaukan led 18-9 after one stanza, 43-13 at halftime, 65-23 after three and again they came away with a 72-37 win over the Rockets. The Lady Indians made 28 field goals, 8 of 13 free throws, had 14 fouls and committed 14 turnovers. The Rockets made 12 field goals, 10 of 13 free throws, had 12 fouls and committed 21 turnovers.

The locals were playing without Ashley Schuster who was ill. Lauren Roscoe paced New Rockford-Sheyenne with 11 points. All of the Rockets saw playing time and nine scored.

Riah Littleghost paced Four Winds- Minnewaukan with a game high 17 points.

Hannah Alberts had 11, Latasha Bellile 12, and Haile Keo added 10.

New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 0-5 in District 7 play and 6-9 overall. Next action for the Rockets is Monday, January 29, at Glenfield against Midkota. Game one is set for 4:30 p.m.
