The first three quarters were quite close, but Benson County pulled away in the fourth and defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 58-43 in District 7 Girls Basketball action played at Maddock on Friday, January 19.
The Rockets had some costly turnovers and got into some foul trouble. Benson County led all the way and at all quarter stops 13-9, 28-23, 38-29 and defeated the locals by a final of 58-43.
The Wildcats made 22 field goals, 11 of 14 free throws, had 10 fouls and committed 14 turnovers. New Rockford-Sheyenne made 19 field goals, 5 of 6 free throws, had 15 fouls and committed 19 turnovers.
Dani Schwanke paced Benson County with a game high 26 points. Desidy Schwanke had 13. Hannah Haley paced the Rockets with 18 points. Lauren Roscoe had 12 and Ashley Schuster 11.
New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 0-4 in District 7 and 6-8 overall.
