Locals finish first at Park District tourney

The New Rockford Park District hosted a youth basketball tournament at the high school gym on Sunday, January 28. A group of six fifth and sixth grade girls finished as champions of the fifth grade girls' division.

The girls played four games, ending with a record of 3-1, good enough for the championship. Organizer Jon Johnson said it was the first time a local team has won a first place trophy since the park district started organizing the tournament.

It was a long day of basketball on two courts with teams from New Rockford-Sheyenne competing in the boys' fifth and sixth grade divisions as well.
