Midkota Mustangs top Rockets

The game was quite close most of the way as Midkota defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 53-45 in non-district Girls Basketball action played at Glenfield on Monday, January 29. Overall, it was a hard fought game, and at times quite physical.  

Midkota is a pretty young team and could be quite good the next few years. The Mustangs led virtually all the way and at all quarter stops, 16-11, 26-21, 42-33. Joslyn Hoyt paced Midkota with a game high 24 points, Jakenda Short added 15 points. Hannah Haley led the Rockets with 21 points.

The Mustangs made 21 field goals, 5 of 7 free throws, had 11 fouls, and committed 15 turnovers. The Rockets made 20 field goals, 2 of 11 free throws, had 11 fouls, and committed 16 turnovers.

New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 7-10 overall. Next action for the Rockets is the regular season finale at Pingree, on Monday, February 5, against Medina-Pingree-Buchanan. Two games will be played with the first one set for 6 p.m.
