Lies announces bid for Eddy County State's Attorney

With 120 days left before the June primary election, New Rockford attorney Ashley Lies has announced that she will run for Eddy County State's Attorney.

Lies will challenge current Eddy County State's Attorney Travis Peterson of New Rockford, who is expected to run for re-election.

Lies graduated from UND School of Law in December 2013 with distinction and a Certificate in Indian Law.

After passing the North Dakota State Bar, she worked for a small firm in Jamestown until September 2015, when she opened her own practice in the former Manly Law Office building in downtown New Rockford.

Lies served as Interim-Foster County State's Attorney in 2016 following the resignation of Paul Murphy. She currently holds the Assistant State's Attorney post for Wells County and has done so since June of 2016.

The primary election is set for June 12. The two candidates who receive the most votes will automatically be on the general election ballot November 6. The successful candidate in the general election shall serve a 4-year term beginning January 1, 2019.
