The big difference in this game was at the free throw line as St. John defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 80-71 in non-district boys basketball action played at St. John on Saturday, February 3. Overall, the game was hard fought and high scoring.
The Woodchucks led most of the way and at all quarter stops, 25-21, 43-41, 64-53. St. John made seven big free throws in the fourth to help seal their win. The Woodchucks have not lost a game this season and could likely be the team to beat in the Region 4 tournament.
The Rockets had good scoring balance, Bo Belquist led the way with 15 points, Teddy Allmaras had 14, Luke Ystaas 12, and Wilson
Howard chipped in 10 points.
Kyler McGilliss paced St. John with a game high 33 points, Dalton Prouty had 16 and Dylan Davis added 15.
