The Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts is proud to present Broadway Unbound! Chock-a-block full of Broadway's greatest hits, this concert-style performance will act more as a fundraising event than as a traditional theatrical performance.
"Our late-winter show has always been our opportunity to try something a little out of the ordinary," says Artistic Director Elliott Schwab. "Typically it's a significantly shorter run than our other shows so we have a chance to branch out and take some risks. This year, though, we decided to throw it back to the halcyon days of DPRCA's past, when these sort of fundraising concert events were a bit more common."
Long-known as a company that encourages community members to audition and star in its productions, the DPRCA continues its "all are welcome" trend with Unbound. The musical selections have been carefully curated by Schwab to accommodate performers of various backgrounds and experience levels.
"A great deal of thought goes into building a show like this," elaborates Schwab. "You have to strike a lot of balances: modern versus classical theatre, virtuosic versus basic style, upbeat versus mellow – you don't want to get bogged down by a bunch of beautiful ballads, no matter how much you love them!"
The concert will feature over 20 selections from shows such as Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Oklahoma!, Grease, Pippin, The Last Five Years, Wicked, Annie, Hamilton, and more!
Performance dates are March 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30; Sundays at 2:30). Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students (ages 13 through college), and $10 for children (ages 12 and under). To purchase, please call the Box Office at 701-947-2174 or visit http://www.dprca.com.
