Fred Kling, age 91, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Carrington, ND, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, in CHI St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge. Funeral services were held on February 16, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington, ND. Rev, Richard Biberdorf officiated. Special music provided by Renee Hopkins. Casket Bearers were all of Fred's grandchildren.
Fredrick Kling was born on December 12, 1926, in Bowbells, ND, the son of Martin and Bertha (Herman) Kling. He grew up and attended school in Donnybrook, ND, graduating in 1945. Fred worked for the SOO Line Railroad from 1944-1967 while living in Donnybrook.
Fred was united in marriage to Blanche A. Payne on June 15, 1952, in Mott, ND. They made their home in Donnybrook just west of Minot, ND. In 1967, they moved to Carrington and Fred worked as a line section foreman until 1986. They then moved to Valley City and Fred retired in 1988. In 1993 they moved back to Carrington.
He is survived by his two sons: Mark (Lola) Kling, Kent, WA, David Kling, and daughter, Lana Althoff, both of Wahpeton; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; one sister Leona Funk; and good friend Marcella Edinger.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; six brothers: Gus, Art, Harry, Walt, Clifford, George and one sister Ester.
