Ryan Waldo of Tolna appeared in Southeast District Court on Feb. 8, where he pleaded guilty to driving under suspension. This is his fifth offense in Eddy County in recent months. He was convicted and sentenced on four other charges in court last month, including driving or having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence, fleeing an officer, refusal to submit to a chemical test and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Waldo was sentenced to four days in jail for driving under suspension. He will report on Friday, March 9 and serve his time at the Lake Region Correctional Center in Devils Lake. He was also ordered to pay $785 in fines and fees.

George A. Mackin of Mandan was sentenced Feb. 8 for hunting on posted land in Eddy County during deer season. He had initially pleaded not guilty to the class B misdemeanor, but changed his plea in court on Feb. 8. He surrendered the Bear Whitetail Hunter bow with quiver he had in his possession at the time of the violation. His hunting, fishing and trapping privileges in North Dakota were suspended through December 31, 2018, and he was ordered to pay $350 in fines and fees.

Donny Miller of Devils Lake was also convicted of hunting on posted land during the 2017 hunting season. His trapping, fishing,and hunting privileges in North Dakota are also suspended until December 31, 2018, and was assessed $350 in fines and fees.

Anthony Carmona of St. Michael pleaded guilty to driving under suspension on Feb. 8. A total of $500 in fines and fees were assessed in that case.

Jessica Duda of New Rockford reached a plea agreement for driving under the influence while accompanied by minors and driving under suspension. She was sentenced on Feb. 8 after she changed her plea to guilty. Duda has been ordered to pay $3,010 in fines and fees, of which $1,000 has been suspended for one year. She has lost her driving privileges and is serving 10 days of jail time on weekends.

Louis J. Dunn of Ft. Totten was also sentenced for driving under suspension in a case dating back to June 2017; his fines and fees totaled $535 in that case.

Marlin S. Little of Devils Lake appeared in court on Feb. 8 and was assessed $750 in fines and fees after he pleaded guilty to driving under suspension on Jan. 31.

Christopher Cavanaugh, Jr. of St. Michael appeared in court without counsel on Feb. 8 and entered not guilty pleas for three misdemeanor counts of simple assault.  

According to the criminal complaint, he struck three people during an Oct. 2, 2016 altercation, and one person’s injuries required stitches. Cavanaugh failed to appear in court on the charges in November 2016, prompting a bench warrant to be issued for his arrest. He was arrested on Jan. 30, 2018, more than a year later. A pre-trial conference in the case has been set for April 19.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Dyllan M. Peltier of Devils Lake after he failed to appear in court on Feb. 8. He was due to make an appearance on an order to show cause, as he had failed to comply with court orders in a driving under suspension case dating back to January 2017.
