New Rockford-Sheyenne competed on February 7 as a school at the Region 2 MATHCOUNTS contest. Students competing on the team were Mya Cudworth, Madison Schuster, Delana Thomas, and Josh Homiston. They also competed in the individual portion of the test along with Nick Berglund and Hunter Jacobson. Jacobson placed fourth and Cudworth finished seventh in the Region 2 competition.
The MATHCOUNTS competition series is a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person math contests against their peers. Created in 1983, it is open to all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. The competition series has four levels of competition-school, chapter (regions), state and national.
