Region 4 Boys Basketball Tournament
New Rockford-Sheyenne struggled offensively for three quarters as Langdon-Area-Edmore-Munich defeated the locals by a final score of 61-50 in first round action of the Region 4 Boys Basketball Tournament played at Devils Lake on Tuesday, March 6.
A very good crowd was on hand. The Rockets just could not seem to catch any breaks.
The Cardinals led throughout and at all quarter stops 13-4 , 26-16, 42-27 and again defeated the locals by a final of 61-50.
New Rockford-Sheyenne had a big fourth quarter, but it just was not enough. Langdon-Area-Edmore-Munich made 13 key free throws in the fourth to help seal the win.
The Rockets had good scoring balance. Bo Belquist led the way with a game high 16 points, Teddy Allmaras had 12 and Hunter Thompson added 10.
The Cardinals also had good balance. Grant Romfo had 15 points. Alex Lowery had 14 points and Simon Romfo chipped in 12 points. Langdon-Area-Edmore-Munich made 16 field goals, 25 of 33 free throws, had 14 fouls, and committed 17 turnovers.
New Rockford-Sheyenne made 19 field goals, 7 of 16 free throws, had a whopping 24 fouls and committed only 8 turnovers. The Rockets lose one senior in Wilson Howard to graduation and he will be greatly missed. However the foreseeable future could be very good.
New Rockford-Sheyenne closes out the season at 13-10 overall.
