Contestant flies in from Arizona and takes home $2,000 Deal or No Deal grand prize
It was a year of firsts for the New Rockford Community Foundation's signature fundraiser. The 7th Annual Deal or No Deal dinner and game show on Saturday, March 10 was the first to draw an out-of-state winner, and the first to have one person take home the entire $2,000 prize!
Greg Allmaras, who had flown in to celebrate his mother's 94th birthday, was his sister DeVon's guest at the event, and he won big! He not only outlasted all other contestants, but he also one a lucky duck pluck cash prize and a free drink for being the person to come the longest distance to attend.
Organizer Jessica Hawkes said the event was expected to net $9,500-$10,000 for the foundation. Prior to this event, the endowment fund had exceeded $108,000!
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the fund's inception in 2008, another big milestone. The foundation has provided almost $18,000 in grants to 38 community projects, and an additional $22,000+ has been awarded in cash and prizes at the seven Deal or No Deal events.
New Rockford Community Foundation grant applications are accepted anytime in the month of April. There is approximately $3,600 available for projects this year. For more information, contact Jessica at (701) 799-7122 or email [email protected].
