The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that a cattle truck rolled onto its side on Tuesday, March 13, three miles north of Oberon, N.D.
The driver, Chad Tichota, 39, of Norfolk, Neb., was driving a 2003 Peterbilt truck and pulling a cattle trailer hauling 67 animals. He was traveling south on U.S. Highway 281, coming from Rugby, when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve. The truck entered the ditch and rolled onto its side.
North Dakota State Highway Patrol said none of the cattle died during the crash and that local ranchers helped transport the cattle to Devils Lake, where the animals were inspected for injury.
The patrol said Tichota received a traffic citation for care required in operation of a motor vehicle.
The Benson County Sheriff’s Office and Bureau of Indian Affairs Police also responded to the scene.
