Darlene Hewitt, 81, of Carrington, N.D., died Friday, March 16, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Carrington. Funeral services were held March 21, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. Burial was at Carrington Cemetery. Rev. Fred Grundman and Rev. Mindy Meier officiated. Special music was provided by Teresa Edland and Alison Schumann. Honorary bearers were all of Darlene's grandchildren.
Darlene Kay Hanson was born on April 7, 1936, in Carrington to Martin and Evelyn (Pierce) Hanson. She was raised and received her education in Carrington. On June 22, 1955, she married the love of her life, James Hewitt, in Fessenden, N.D. They lived in Sykeston for one year before moving to their permanent home in Carrington, where they raised their six children.
In 1977 Darlene went to work at Golden Acres where she worked for several years.
Darlene is survived by two sons, Scott (Deb), Sykeston, N.D., Paul (Jackie), Steele, N.D.; 3 daughters, Amy (Greg) Stoike, Poway, Calif., Wendy (Jim) Andries, Allen, Tex., Beth (Troy) Trottier, Carrington, N.D.; 3 sisters-in-law, Marlys Hanson, Fargo, N.D., Sharon Hewitt, Carrington, N.D., and Joelle Hewitt, Apache Junction, Ariz.; 1 brother-in-law, Rusty (Kathy) Hewitt, Fargo, N.D., Darlene is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; her parents, one daughter-in-law, her grandson; brother Martin "Bud" Hanson and sister Diane (Alvin) Soma.
