New Rockford-Sheyenne boys and girls track teams began their 2018 season at the State Indoor Championship in Fargo on Saturday, March 24. Overall, bothteams are pretty young, but the Rockets look to have a good year ahead, as they have some good talent.
This season’s coaches include Cherry Heinz, Lexi Ystaas, Jordan Brown and Evan Savageau.
The girls team finished sixth overall with 52 points. Central Cass finished first with 95.50 points. The other team totals were as follows: Milnor-Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 59.50, Lisbon 58.50, LaMoure- Litchville-Marion 58, Oakes 57, Oak Grove Lutheran 51, Kindred 30, Enderlin 29, Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page 23, Sargent Central 18.50, Barnes County North 14, Richland 10 and Midkota 9.
Rocket girls’ placers are as follows:
• 60 meter hurdles: Hannah Haley, third, 10.47
• One mile run: Chloe Heinz third, 6:01.44
60 meter hurdles: Haley first, 10.34
• 400 meter dash: Lauren Roscoe third, 1:07.79
• 60 meter dash: Brianna Price fifth, 8.60
• 60 meter dash: Haley sixth, 8.72
• 800 meter run: Heinz fifth, 2:42.87
• 200 meter dash: Price second, 28.74
• 1600 meter relay: first 4:29.31
The boys rounded out the top ten with 12 points. Milnor-Wyndmere-Lidgerwood was victorious with 88 total points. Other totals included Kindred 83, Oak Grove Lutheran 80, Central Cass 78, Lisbon 61, Enderlin 59, Oakes 33, Sargent Central 15, Benson County 15, Barnes County North 12, Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page 11, Lamoure-Litchville-Marion 8 and Richland 6.
Bo Belquist was the sole placer on the boys’ side. He took third in the jong jump with a distance of 18.01.50 and third in the triple jump with 39-03.75.
The next action for the Rockets will be the CNDC Indoor Track Meet at Minot on Friday, April 6.
