Nathan Holzwarth, son of Rachel and David Holzwarth, has been selected to represent New Rockford-Sheyenne High School (NR-S) at the North Dakota Leadership Seminar (NDLS) June 1 through 3 at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, N.D. Holzwarth was selected based on his leadership skills, commitment to community service, and involvement in his school and community.
The NDLS, established in 1981, is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring leadership skills and a spirit of volunteerism in the state's young people. Every high school in the state is eligible to select a student to attend the seminar free of charge. Organized by volunteers, the seminar is financially supported by donations from businesses, service organizations, individuals, and foundations from across the state. Seminars focus on leadership development, service and issue awareness through empowering discussions and informal debate.
Bryce Scharmer, Chair of the NDLS explains. "Our hope is that student leaders who attend NDLS leave with the tools they need to go back into their community and impact the world around them. These young men and women are North Dakota's up and coming leaders, and we can't wait to meet them." Each student who attends the program in turn provides 100 hours of service to their community.
