Obituary: Doris Thompson

Doris Thompson, 83, of Fargo, N.D., formerly of New Rockford, N.D., passed away April 22, 2018 at Elim Care Center under hospice care. A funeral service was held April 27, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in New Rockford. Burial was at Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. Rev. Doug Nemitz officiated, special music was provided by Kerstin Allmaras and Deb Belquist. Casket bearers were her 12 grandchildren and honorary bearers were her nine great-grandchildren.

Doris Jean Lucht was born on January 5, 1935 to John H. and Alma Lucht in New Rockford. She graduated from New Rockford High School in 1953.

She married Malcolm (Mick) Thompson and they made their home in New Rockford with their six children. She worked for over 55 years, until her retirement in 2008, for numerous Eddy County offices, including county extension, soil conservation, tax equalization, and the Sheriff's office. She also did the bookkeeping for their business, Mick's 281 Service.

She is survived by her 6 children: Mike (Jill), Binford; Wayne (Lori), Murray, Utah; Ken (Luann), New Rockford; Deborah, Fargo; Rodney (Karen), West Fargo; and David (Karen), Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one brother, Martin (Eloise), and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Erna and Ruby, and brother Earl.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prairie Home Cemetery of New Rockford or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
