Ballers recognized at awards banquet

The New Rockford-Sheyenne (NR-S) Varsity Girls Basketball team participated in their end-of-the-season 2018 Awards Night on Sunday, April 29. The award night was held in the NR-S cafeteria and included a banquet, speeches and awards. In Head Coach Mandy Fandrich's speech, she thanked Assistant Coach Craig Demester as well as parents for their support. Fandrich then congratulated the girls for all their hard work. Although the season was a struggle, the team showed improvement in the second half of the season. With a lot of hard work in the off-season, next year the team could be quite good.

The following were award winners: Lauren Roscoe, Carli Lies, Alli Dockter, Ashley Schuster, Hannah Haley, Ashlynn Benson, Brianna Price, Kindra Jacobson, Kenna Munson, Cassie Longnecker, Dani Bjerke and Kyannah Hopfauf.

The Most Valuable Player awards went to Haley and Roscoe. Haley also received awards for best offensive player, hardest worker, most steals, best defense and most points. Roscoe received awards for most improvement. Dockter received the award for most rebounds. Lies was awarding for having the most assists. Bjerke received the Freshman Award.
