President's Point- June 2018

There is a lot going on in New Rockford as of late. We were fortunate to have two new stores open this year. Casey's and the Dollar General are two new additions to our business community, and we welcome them.

The road construction on U.S. Highway 281 is scheduled to begin this year as well. We have a special meeting for the community of New Rockford concerning the proposed water project which will involve the replacement the water lines throughout the town, a repainting of the water tower’s interior and exterior and the modernization of the water treatment plant. This meeting is June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Brown Memorial building.

We have elections for the New Rockford- Sheyenne School Board, the New Rockford Park Board and the New Rockford City and Eddy County Commissions. In addition, we’ll be electing the primaries to select candidates for the ballot for offices in the Senate and House of Representatives at the state and federal levels in November. Please vote, and attend the public meetings to assist your elected officials in serving you the public.

June also means vacations. Please plan your trip with safety in mind, do not drink before operating cars, boats or other motorized vehicles. Do not swim if intoxicated and there is no life guard is provided. Ensure there is a responsible adult who can provide assistance and prevent risky behavior, such as rope swinging or diving into water of unknown depths. Enjoy your vacations and come home safe!
