Patti Clifton and Jan Loe were shoppers in Jamestown recently.

Members of the Loe family continued the age-old tradition of "Eating on the Graves" on Wednesday, May 21. Attending were Roger and Betty Westby, New Rockford; Wayne and Elaine Retzlaff, Rapid City, S.D.; Chuck and Karen Erickson, Mandan; Silvia Hulbert, Fargo; and Jan Loe. Cemeteries visited with lunch at each, were Augustana, Warwick and New Rockford. They had a wonderful time catching up and reminiscing.

Card Club was held on Thursday, May 22, at the Sheyenne Senior Center, with Caroline Daugherty as hostess. Barb Eversvik won Hi, Janet Jordre won Lo, and Rhoda Stenberg won Traveling. Others in attendance were Liz Anderson, Kathy Albrecht, Jan Loe and Mary Ellen Rue.

Jan Loe picked up Marilyn Stenberg at Lakota and they traveled to the Warwick Cemetery to put flowers on the family graves. They stopped for lunch at the Tolna Café on their way to the Steve and Rebecca Forde home in Pekin ,where they visited with Rebecca, Calahan and Ellen Burthold.

Patti Clifton visited with Cindy Hegland at her home Sunday evening.

About 100 area residents enjoyed the Memorial Day Program at Ostby Hall, as well as the delicious turkey and all the trimmings. The dinner was prepared and served by the Eddy County VFW Auxiliary of Sheyenne. Eddy County VFW members advanced and retired the colors for the program. The wonderful salute to our veterans consisted of musical selections by the NR-S Boy's Ensemble; Jeff Labrensz; Timothy Thueson; John Olson; the Men's Group; and the Community Band. Pastor Natasha gave the opening prayer, Memorial Day Litany and the Benediction. John Olson read "In Flanders Field." The Memorial Day address was given by Collin Hanson, reminding us to strive for world peace. Pianists were Mary Ellen Rue and Annette Hovey, with John Olson serving as Master of Ceremonies.

May birthdays were celebrated at the Sheyenne Senior Center on Tuesday. Members having birthdays in May were Marvel Ebenhahn, Kathy Albrecht and Bonnie Deegan.
