Students receive handmade gift

John Scanson of New Rockford is a man who enjoys staying busy. Over this past winter, he made around 200 birdhouses and other wood projects to donate to people in the area. Of these projects, 24 of them went to the students in Mrs. Hager's fifth grade class. Scanson first met these students last fall, at the Central North Dakota Steam Thresher's Reunion in New Rockford. Many of Mrs. Hager's students enthusiastically helped him pick potatoes from the freshly loosened soil, and after a short visit, Scanson insisted on making a birdhouse for every student in the class.

Scanson held his promise. He not only built, but also painted two-dozen birdhouses, which students received this spring. Thank you John for your generous and kind gift, and for providing homes for hundreds of bird families!
