Obituary: Vincent Nicolai

Vincent Salem Nicolai passed away May 18, 2018 at the age of seven. Mass of Christian Burial was June 1 at St. John's Catholic Church. Father Reese Weber presided and special music was provided by Heather Klocke. Casket bearers were Noah Nicolai, Seth Nicolai, Matt Nicolai, Myles Nicolai, Kendra Woodstead and Kyrie Nicolai. Honorary bearers were Isaiah, Micah, Rachel, Grace, Claire, James, Korinthia, Joshua, Jared, Josiah, Jonathan, Joseph, Krissa, Miquela, Julia, Asher, Katrina, Lucas, Isabel, Evelyn, Anika, Sophie and Emma and Chase.

Even at his tender age, Vincent was an accomplished artist, with painting exhibits shown in multiple galleries. Vincent's musical talents came naturally. He was learning to play the drums, working on his guitar skills, could play the piano by ear, and like his namesake, Grandpa Vince, he could already hold his own on the harmonica. Vincent loved everything about trains. He loved riding them, listening to them, watching them, memorizing their schedules, their stops and their speeds.

Vincent is survived by his father Charles Nicolai; paternal grandmother Sandra Nystrom; maternal grandmother Jessie Carter; aunts Doreen Adams, Yvette Adams, Caryn Woodstead; uncles Tyrone Adams, Heath Marsh, Michael and Cheri (McAtee) Nicolai, James Nicolai, Thomas and Nyrie (Breidenbach) Nicolai, Christopher and Laura (Dahlby) Nicolai, Gabe and Maria (Nicolai) Gietzen, Steven and Nicole (Nicolai) Scherweit; and a plethora of cousins. Vincent was accompanied in death by his mother, Stephanie Adams Nicolai. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather Vincent Nicolai; maternal grandfather Salem Adams and aunt Teresa Nicolai.

To honor his son's life, Vincent's father, Charles, will be establishing a fund for the purpose of saving lives through awareness, early detection and prevention of mental illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Vincent Nicolai Memorial GoFundMe site are welcome. For more information or to make a donation, visit https://www.gofundme.com/vincent-nicolai-memorial-fund.
