Official Newspaper of Eddy County since 1883
Each year the Eddy County Museum creates a featured exhibit with a defined theme. This year’s theme is military history, and the exhibit features various items such as attire, memorabilia and service awards that date as far back as the nineteenth century.
To complement the exhibit, the Eddy County Museum board of directors plans to host guest speakers from within the community, as there are several area citizens who served during significant events in U.S. military history.
These special guests are scheduled to speak on the fourth Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. On June 24, the first guest speaker, Ervin Longnecker, will discuss his experiences in World War II, from D-Day to the Battle of the Bulge. Additional speakers are being arranged for July and August and will be discussing their experiences in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. In September we will have a review of little known local military history.
The Eddy County Museum is located at 1115 First Avenue North in New Rockford, across from the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. Regular hours are Sundays from 1-4 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
