Obituary: Donald Bennett

Donald Alden Bennett, 88, of Carrington, N.D., passed away peacefully on the morning of June 5, 2018, with his wife by his side. Funeral service were June 9 at the Federated Church UCC/UMC, Carrington, N.D. Burial was at the Carrington Cemetery Rev. Rick Loewen officiated, special music was provided by ArvaDell Tahran. Casket bearers were Michelle Hagen, Duston Hagen, Amanda Bruning, Josh Bruning and Scott Bennett.

Donald was born November 23, 1929, in Jamestown, N.D., the son of Alden and Annie (Thomson) Bennett. He grew up on the family farm helping with the farming and ranching in the Edmunds area. He attended school in Carrington, graduating from Carrington High School in 1947.

Don was united in marriage to Donna Chaney on September 22, 1951, in Jamestown. Together they raised four children. They moved to Carrington in 1989, and moved into the Golden Acres Estates in the fall of 2017.

Don was a member of the Carrington Federated Church. Prior to that, he was a member of Pingree Congregational Church. He was also a member of the Pingree School board for many years.

Don is survived by his wife; daughter Denise Bennett, Owatonna, Minn.; son Daren (Cheryl) Bennett, Pingree; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and sister Laura Hall, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Darcy Bennett; brother Bill Bennett; two sisters Annie Jean Kollman and Clarella Dalby.
