Jacobson appointed to NR-S School Board

Mike Jacobson has been appointed to fill the open seat on the New Rockford-Sheyenne School Board vacated by John McKnight in late May. Jacobson is a New Rockford resident and Vice President of Operations for North American Bison, LLC.

Jacobson said he has had interest in serving on the school board for a awhile, and this appointment will give him the opportunity to see how the board works before he decides to seek a full term.

"I just feel like I could make a positive contribution," Jacobson said Tuesday. "I want to understand how our school operates." Jacobson added that he will bring a level-headed perspective to the board.

With this appointment, Jacobson will serve until the next election in June 2019. At that time, to remain on the board, Jacobson must seek re-election to McKnight's unexpired term, which will be one year long, or petition for another open seat.

Jacobson's first meeting will be July 16, and he will begin his term with two other newly-elected board members, Patti Larson of Sheyenne and David Holzwarth of New Rockford.
