Margaret Claire Abell, 78, died peacefully at Pioneer Care Nursing Home, on June 13, 2018 in Fergus Falls, Minn. Funeral services were June 23, 2018, at in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington. Burial was at Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, N.D. Pastor David Storm officiated. Special music was provided by Genevieve and Austin Drias. Casket bearers were all of her grandchildren.
Margaret Claire Abell (Colbourne) was born on January 28, 1940 in Boston, Mass., to George and Grace (Braily) Colbourne. She went on to marry and raise her family of eight children. Due to circumstances, she raised her family mostly on her own. In 1983 she obtained her high school GED in order to participate in a nursing program at which she worked.
In 1991 she graduated from the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colo., and became an ordained minister. She then pastored a church in Illinois and continued until her health began to fail.
Margaret is survived by her children: Jean Colburne, Bend, Ore., Thomas Abell, San Francisco, Calif., Robert Abell, Wahpeton, N.D., George (Tammy) Abell, Carrington, N.D., Margaret (Pat) McFadden, Fergus Falls, Minn., Mary (Mike) Prow, Bend, Ore., James Abell, New Rockford, N.D.; several daughter-in-laws Bette Abell, Wahpeton, N.D., Katina Abell and Holly Dewald, New Rockford, N.D.; thirty grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and sisters Susan Logan, Norwood, Mass., and Emily Emmons, Lynn, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Donald Abell and his wife Loretta Abell, son-in-law Thomas Manley, three grandchildren, one brother and five sisters.
