New Rockford American Legion Post 30 played host to Fargo Post 400 in a Central Section baseball doubleheader on Tuesday, July 10.
Game One
Post 30 scored their only two runs of the game in the first inning. Tyrus Smith singled to left with one out. He stole second and moved to third on an error and scored on a single to left by Seth Soderholm. Cole Myhre came up next and doubled to right scoring. Post 400 scored one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth. The visitors came away with a 6-2 win.
Post 30 hit the ball quite well, but just did not have the runs to show for it. Geoffrey Youngs pitched a good overall game for Post 400. Teddy Allmaras pitched a pretty good game for the locals, but deserved a better fate.

Game Two
Fargo was the home team. They scored five runs in the first inning. Post 30 came up with two runs in the third. Holzwarth led off with a single. He advanced to second on a wild pitch. Smith singled with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch. Holzwarth eventually scored on a passed ball. Soderholm knocked in Smith on an infield out. The locals scored three more in the fourth. Ystaas doubled to left with one out. He scored on a passed ball. Holzwarth drew a two out walk and stole second. He scored on a single to right by Bo Belquist. He advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a double to left by Smith. Fargo plated one run in the fourth.
New Rockford scored three runs in the sixth. Holzwarth drew a one out and stole second. Belquist knocked him in on a single to right. He stole second and scored on a two out single by Allmaras. Soderholm drew a walk and moved to third on an error, which allowed Allmaras to score. Post 400 came up two runs in the sixth. The locals scored five runs in the seventh. Holzwarth, Smith and Allmaras each knocked in one run on a double. The other two runs scored as a result of passed balls.
Post 30 won the nightcap by a final score of 13-8. Fargo left 10 runners on base, while New Rockford stranded eight.

Note: The Friday, July 6 Mayville game was to have been here for a central section doubleheader, but Mayville forfeited due to disciplinary reasons.
