Post 30 defeats SNR Old Timers

It was an entertaining game! The Sheyenne-New Rockford (SNR) Old Timers mounted a comeback in the last inning, but it was not enough to defeat the American Legion Post 30, as they came away with a 13-7 win in the baseball action played here on Tuesday, July 3. A pretty good crowd was on hand.

The Old Timers scored one run in the first. Ethan Haley singled with one out, stole second and scored on a single to left by Matt Warren. Post 30 plated three runs in the first. Bo Belquist drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a passed ball. Tyrus Smith singled to left and Belquist scored on an error. Teddy Allmaras drew a walk. Seth Soderholm reached first on a fielder's choice. He moved to second on a passed ball and Smith scored. Soderholm scored on a single by Tucker Longnecker.

Post 30 came up with one run in the third. Nathan Holzwarth led off with a single. Belquist drew a walk. Smith singled to left and Holzwarth scored. The Old Timers plated one run in the fourth. Ben Makay drew a lead-off walk. Matt Warren singled to right. Luke Weisenburger singled to left. Warren eventually scored on a passed ball. The Old Timers added one run in fifth. Colin Birkeland led off with a single. He came around and scored with two outs on a wild pitch. Post 30 added three runs in the fifth. Colter Soderholm drew a lead-off walk.

Belquist drew a one out walk, as did Smith to load the bases. Allmaras knocked in one run on a fielder's choice. Belquist scored on a double steal. Soderholm knocked in Allmaras on a single. The Old Timers scored one run in the seventh. Brett Allmaras singled with one out and scored as Birkeland reached the base on an error.

Post 30 scored three runs in the seventh. Allmaras knocked in all three runs on a bases loaded triple. They also added three more in the eighth inning. However the Old Timers mounted a comeback in the ninth. Weisenburger belted a three-run home run to left, but it was not enough and Post 30 won by a final score of 13-7.

Ben Makay pitched well overall for SNR. Cole Myhre and Bo Belquist pitched well for Post 30. Both teams stranded nine base runners.
