Obituary: Kenneth Kracht

Kenneth Leroy Kracht, 85, of Carrington, N.D., passed away July 16, 2018. Funeral services were July 20, 2018 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, N.D. Fr. Terry Dodge and Fr. Lawrence Haas officiated. Special music was provided by the Sacred Heart Choir and Marlene Boyer. Burial was at the Carrington Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jenny Vande Hoven, Justin Paulson, Austin Kracht, Lisa Robards, Mike Vande Hoven and Eric Paulson. Honorary bearers were all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Military honors were provided by American Legion Post #25 John Raymond O'Hara and North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.

Kenneth was born October 13, 1932, in Ashland Township, N.D., to Otto and Mae (VanWinkle) Kracht. He attended country school in Ashland Township until they moved to Pingree in 1942, where he continued his schooling until the eighth grade.

Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Army February of 1951. He actively served in the Korean conflict prior to his honorable discharged in February of 1953.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Miemietz on September 12, 1953, at St. James Basilica in Jamestown, N.D.. Kenneth worked for Duffy Motors, Bernards Service and for Nicolson-Carr until he purchased the company in 1994; changing the name to the current Kracht Implement.

He is survived by his wife, four children, Mark (Sharon) Amarillo, Texas, Dale, Carrington, Debra (Mike) Vande Hoven, Carrington and Mary Jo (Eric) Paulson, Tehachapi, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Bertel, Bernard, Otto, Merle and Robert; two sister Bertha and Peggy and one granddaughter Jennifer.
