Self Advocacy Club hosts Pet Show

The 4th Corporation Self Advocacy Club hosted its second annual Pet Show on Friday, July 20. The show featured 20 pets, including dogs, cats, a gecko and even a goat!

Congratulations to the the following pets and their owners for winning prizes.

There were seven entrants in the dog division. Ollie, a lab cross owned by Brenda Bachmeier, was named Cutest and Best of Show. Perdita the cocker spaniel owned by Nick Hovey, was chosen for having the best hair and longest ears. Talcum the Chinese Crested owned by Landon Cronin was rewarded for performing the best trick.

Eight felines competed in the cat division. Midnight, a farm cat owned by Makiah Thomas, earned the Best of Show honor. Caly, a calico owned by Olivia Larson, was voted the cutest. Leia, a half siamese owned by Gretchen Berglund, had the best hair. Michael Reese's farm cat named Pumpkin won most unique.

Perhaps the most interesting, and the category where two pets took overall grand honors, was labeled "Other Pets." A small menagerie of animals were on the display in that division. The Best of Show award went to Juliette, a rouen duck owned by Jessica Hawkes. Rambo, Colter Soderholm's dairy goat, was named the cutest. Delphyne the crested gecko, also owned by Jessica Hawkes, was voted most unique.

Overall, three pets took home "grand" awards, including Perdita the Cocker Spaniel, who was found to look most like its owner, Nick Hovey. The Best Behaved award was not surprisingly earned by Chandlier the Beta Fish, owned by Elizabeth Holzwarth. Rambo the dairy goat was named Overall Grand Champion.
