Obituary: Wilfred Anton

Wilfred (Willie) Charles Anton, 92, passed away on July 17, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington. Funeral services were held July 25 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Sykeston, N.D. Burial followed at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Terry Dodge officiated and special music was provided by Jon Polries and the Celebration Singers. Casket bearers were: Eric Iverson, James Speldrich, Tom Speldrich, Tim Speldrich, Doug Heinze, David Heinze, Larry Hetle and Blair Froiland. Honorary bearers were all of the family and friends in attendance.

Willie was born on January 4, 1926, in Van Hook, N.D., to Frank and Amelia (Klinger) Anton, he was the fifteenth of eighteen children. Willie attended school in Van Hook until the eighth grade.

He moved to Fargo, with his brother, Joe. He worked as the caretaker of the trailer court and also helped his brother, Joe in a meat shop in West Fargo. All the while he did odd jobs, until he was hired as the maintenance man in Blessed Sacrament Church in West Fargo.

Willie is survived by his sister Magdalene "Mag" Giesen, Stanley, N.D. and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Anton, Winstead, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sixteen of his siblings John (Marie) Anton, Mary (John) Heinze, Caroline (John) Meyer, Phillip (Florence) Anton, Katie (John) Morton, Gertrude "Gertie" (Alfred) Oberst, Joseph "Joe" (Helen) Anton, Raymond (Lillian) & (Nora) Anton, Leander (Lorraine) Anton, Herbert "Herbie" (Lillian) Anton, Florence Anton, Lorenz (Angeline) Anton, Barnard Anton, Anthony "Tony" Giesen, Lucille (Lyle) Speldrich, Eugene "Slim" Anton, and Edmund "Butch" (Gloria) and (Jerri) Anton.
