NAPA Auto Parts moved into its new location along U.S. Highway 281 in New Rockford earlier this month. Owners Todd and Renae Duchscherer moved the vacant former Dakota Roadhouse Restaurant building to the spot last October. Now, nine months and a renovation later, the new NAPA store is open for business at 6 First Street South, at the corner of Central Avenue and U.S. Highway 281.
On July 9, the day after a severe storm toppled trees and damaged structures in New Rockford, seven NAPA store team members arrived in town to begin moving inventory out of the Eighth Street store. After just three days, they had completely emptied the space and were up and running in the new location. Duchscherer said his 15-year old son Matthew was also a big help during the move.
The new building has 3,300 sq. ft. of showroom space, more than twice the 1,500 sq. ft. offered by the former. The aisles are wider and the products easier to find. Duchscherer has also expanded his inventory of popular parts, so customers are more likely to find that the alternator, starter or other part that fits their particular make and model is in stock.
Duchscherer said he made the move just in time, as harvest is underway. He is stocked and ready for the busy season and expects to host an open house late this fall.
Store hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
