This weekend, DPRCA's Opera House Youth Actors (OHYA!) will present Giants in the Sky, a beatbybeat musical written by Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm and Denver Casado. Starring Kelsie Belquist as Hailey, a giant who learns the importance of friendship, guided by her elders Finn, played by Madison Crowell, and friend Bea (Mya Cudworth).
This magical story explores the world of Giants who live above the clouds. Ever since they left Earth a long time ago, the giants have made a life up above where their job is to keep the sky beautiful. They polish the stars, poke the clouds to let it rain and paint the sunsets. But there is one curious giant who wonders what life is like on Earth, so she steals a key to the locked up "beanstalk" and embarks on an adventure down below!
A host of elders, hooligans and gamers fill out the remainder of the cast, which perform several fun musical numbers.
The show is directed by Annette Hovey, and all the musical numbers were choreographed by DPRCA Managing Director Deb Belquist.
The performances will take place at the Old Church Theatre on Central Avenue in New Rockford. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. For tickets call the DPRCA Box Office at (701) 947-2174 or reserve online at http://www.dprca.com.
