Howard and Helen Schmid were in Fargo on Thursday to attend the welcome home party for their grandson, Braden Schmid, who has spent the past year working with the homeless in Austin, Texas. Friday, Howard and Helen visited James Nelson. The Schmid’s took in the corn feed at Ostby Hall in Sheyenne Sunday.
Wednesday night, Doris Griffin attended the Community Action Board Meeting in Devils Lake. Last Monday, Doris led the carving class in Maddock and that evening participated in the meeting and carving group in Devils Lake.
Grandchildren, Emma, Rosa and Silas Zietz of Horace spent the week at Jarvis and Patty Hegland’s home.
Amanda, Fallyn and Piper Hegland visited at Jarvis and Patty’s several evenings so cousins could spend time together. Emma, Silas and Rosa returned to their home on Friday afternoon. Saturday, the group was joined by Mike and Jill Zietz for a visit to the Island Park Art Festival in Fargo.
Peggy Kindem of Grand Forks visited Lester and Jackie Roberts on Tuesday. Wednesday visitors at the Roberts’ home were George and Virginia Reisnour and Charles Thompson of Ft. Ransom. Janice Ferry visited Lester and Jackie on Thursday. Weekend visitors at the Roberts’ home were grandson, Ryan Thorson and his wife Megan and son Aiden of Grand Forks, grandson, Sean Thorson and his wife Stephanie of Bismarck, Bob Hoffart and Lezlee Thorson and Roger Roberts of Devils Lake. Justin Roberts visited his parents on Sunday.
Virginia and George Reisnour and Charles Thompson visited James Nelson on Wednesday. Howard and Helen Schmid visited James on Friday.
The Association of Carefree Teachers toured the Peace Gardens on Monday. Charlotte Simon is one of the Carefree Teachers. The group had a pontoon ride on Lake Metigoshe and ended their fun day with ice cream from the Bottineau Dairy.
Charlotte visited Helen Axtman in Maddock on Tuesday. Helen moved to Billings, Mont., over the weekend.
Thursday, Charlotte enjoyed a visit and coffee with Marlene Hendrickson. Charlotte had a sister weekend in Bismarck with her sisters, JoClaire Halvorson, Linda Duchscher, Lori Dalen and Lorie Pederson. Her sister, Valerie was not able to be there to enjoy the fun. The girls also visited their brother, Michael and his wife Shelly Heilman at their home in Bismarck.
Linda Madson kept medical appointments in Grand Forks on Thursday.
Weekend guests at the home of Carrie Madson and Paul Prince at the Madson farm were Melodie, McKenzee and Kennedee Madson and Dave and Linda Madson. Shawn and Cathy Caulfield and Brandon and Sarah Caulfield and their children, Paige and Easton, all of Jamestown, brought their campers and parked them in the yard. Joining the group on Saturday were Kinley Poulsen, Craig and Sandy Poulsen, Mitchell and Elisha Poulsen and children, Brinlee and Stephen, Joni Duckworth of Gilby and Jerad and Sammy Caulfield and their twin sons, Ryker and Ashton of Casselton. Everyone was there to celebrate Dave’s 80th birthday. Good food, lots of laughter and all in all a good day was had by all. Stacy Madson was unable to come home from Wyoming as he is still baling hay for the Padlock Ranch, but he called and wished his dad a happy birthday. McKenzee had her 8th birthday on Friday and also received greetings from everyone. She will have her party with her friends and relatives next weekend.
Tuesday night, Fallyn and Piper Hegland took pizza over to grandparents Jarvis and Patty Hegland’s and had supper with their cousins, Emma, Rosa and Silas Zietz from Horace who are spending the week with Patty and Jarvis.
Wednesday evening, Jake and Amanda took Fallyn and her cousins for a combine ride. Thursday after work, Amanda and family met Patty and the cousins at the park in New Rockford and had fun time playing. Jake and Amanda and the girls attended the corn feed at Ostby Hall in Sheyenne on Sunday.
