Eagleman reaches plea agreement
Kenneth J. Eagleman of Devils Lake reached a plea agreement with authorities for reckless driving, fleeing a police officer and driving under suspension and was sentenced Aug. 9. The charges stemmed from a March 23 incident when Deputy Bittmann observed that the vehicle driven by Eagleman had an inoperable headlight. When Bittman attempted to perform a traffic stop, Eagleman refused and fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph through Eddy County and into Foster County. Eagleman was eventually stopped after he failed to navigate a dead end and his vehicle came to rest in a field. There were three passengers in his vehicle at the time.
Eagleman was arrested and later posted $750 cash bond. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court on April 19. After unsuccessful attempts to have the charges dismissed and his bail reduced in the following months, Eagleman amended his plea to guilty on Aug. 9.
Per the plea agreement, Eagleman was sentenced to 15 months in the N.D. Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with credit for 59 days served. He was previously convicted of fleeing authorities in Ramsey County in 2016.
