GAME ON! Electronic pull tabs await players at Buck-it's Bar; proceeds to golf club

Gaming in New Rockford just became a little more fun. On Aug. 30, Buck-Its Bar and Lodge installed the first two electronic pull tab machines in New Rockford, allowing customers to sit in comfort and enjoy the newest form of charitable gaming in the state.

Electronic pull tabs were approved by the North Dakota legislature in 2017, to give charitable gaming a competitive edge. After much debate, the rules were finalized in May 2018 and took effect July 1. Since then many gaming suppliers have been busy setting up the new machines. The electronic pull tab machines, which look similar to what one may see in a casino, cannot be missed. While styles may vary by manufacturer, the stand-alone, cabinet styled machines offer bright, animated screens, a comfortable chair and cup holders for the player's convenience.

At Buck-It's Bar, a player can choose from among five different games with winnings ranging from a dime to $599, depending on the options chosen.

Players insert their money, pick the game and then choose a price of ticket, which ranges from a quarter up to $2. Once the game is loaded, the player simply swipes the screen to open each tab. After the tabs are opened, any winnings will be displayed and added to the players balance; the machine will then continue play, displaying the next ticket. Once the player has finished, a receipt can be printed from the console and given to the bartender to receive payout.

The two electronic pull tab machines at Buck-It's will share 15,000 tickets in each of the five games offered. As the tickets sell out, a new set will be downloaded allowing for continuous play.

A player must be 21 years of age to enjoy the new games. The machines will only be open for play during the hours that alcohol is served in the bar and a bartender is there to view the machines. The pull tab machines cannot be reserved; however, a player can hold a machine for up to 15 minutes to take a quick break if the bar allows. The proceeds from the sale of electronic pull tab, at Buck-it's, go to the New Rockford Golf Course.
